are formed from a crosslinked polyurethane foam with polyester base in which the cellular lattice does not break during expansion of the foam, which is opened with a special physical process called crosslinking and is folded on the edges.
It is suitable for filtering air, water particles and for the mechanical and biological filtration of water.
The air filter should be replaced every 3 months or 25 working hours depending on which comes first, or more often in dusty environments.
"Sponge only" air filters capture dirt and debris with engine oil. A dry or non-oiled filter will only capture the larger particles. If the air filter is sponge only, it MUST be oiled and inspected regularly.
You can also find sponge air filters on the market that, when they are perfectly clean, offer comparable filtration with permeability even greater than cotton filters (which, however, with prolonged use, can provide consistent yields that are clearly superior to sponge filters). To be truly effective, these sponge filters must also be mounted on a thin netting or spring (the latter to facilitate cleaning of cylindrical filters), to prevent them from closing from the vacuum generated by the aspiration of the engine and to limit the passage of air.
